Jack Harlow, the Kentucky-born rapper behind the hit “Whats Poppin,” was 16 hours from a photoshoot with Druski at the Loews Atlanta—a luxury hotel in the city’s midtown district—when a fan recognized him at a nearby Smoothie King.
Despite the accolades Harlow has racked up in the past year for his music—the 23-year-old was nominated for a Grammy, three BET Awards, and four Billboard Music Awards, and his debut album, Thats What They All Say, landed at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 upon its release last December—the fan wasn’t interested in speaking to the rapper about music. Instead, she’d hoped to connect with him over something (or someone) else.
“She said we have the same bestie,” Harlow recalls, laughing. “I was like, ‘Who?’ She said, ‘Druski’“…
